Tomb Raider Anniversary is a remake of the 1996 title Tomb Raider, a celebration of Lara’s Croft’s 10th anniversary. Crystal Dynamics manages to improve it on almost every aspect of the original by rebuilding the game from scratch, but without taking away all the things that made it so special, such as its fantastic and hugely memorable level design. While most of the basic geometry is very similar, the way the game design has been shaped to take advantage of the enhanced control and move set used in Legends turns it into a very different, and far more enjoyable game. That game focused on the strengths of the series: exotic locales, thoughtful puzzles, and incredible acrobatics, while modernizing the gameplay, which is awesome, especially compared to the old grid-style one of the original. The environments are larger and more detailed, while the puzzles have been elaborated upon to an incredible degree. You'll hear plenty of small ambient effects, such as animal calls and dripping water and needless to say, Lara looks great and moves effortlessly. The experience just feels bigger, and there's so much new content that it honestly feels more like its own game than a remake.
